27th of May update

The cluster is busy running BOINC, specifically the Einstein projects BRP4 work units. At the moment its running all Pi3 model B+ which are the fastest Pis available.

The Pi2 model B and Pi3 model B’s that I used previously are now doing nothing. I still have the prototype Pi^4 case available and think I will put some of the Pi3 model B’s into it. I have a spare USB charger and power cables but not enough network cables. I could run the Pi2’s without active cooling but they take so long to complete a work unit its not worth running them.

While checking some of the Pi3 model B’s I found one wouldn’t power up at all and another two have faulty power connectors that will only work if you wiggle the power cable. I haven’t checked all of them yet.

A bigger bramble

This is what makes up Marks Rpi Cluster:

Two nodes (in official cases with a PiDrive each) are used for support purposes. The remaining Pis are compute nodes.

14 x Raspberry Pi 3 model B+

2 x Official Raspberry Pi case

2 x PiDrive 314GB

3 x Pi^4 case Mk II
